Mop Polishing

Mop Polishing is a method of polishing thermoplastics by applying a mopping or buffing wheel to the surface of a substrate. To achieve a perfect finish using this method, the material must be largely free of machined marks or scratches to begin with. It can be used to offer additional gloss to a surface but is not usually recommended on surfaces that are particularly messy. But mopping is a great way to take an already smooth or relatively clean surface and give it an amazing glossy sheen.

Mopping this way is better used to remove surface materials rather than remove deep scratches or blemishes from thermoplastics. It can enhance the properties of the substrate, particularly its clarity. Different grades of mop or cloth can be used to achieve various finishes and an abrasive soap can also be applied to help encourage the removal of tiny surface materials.
