- Surface preparation – Plastic items must be clean
- Adhesive – The correct adhesive is used with the correct material
- Joint design – Make sure the design distributes stress evenly before bonding
- Application conditions – Consider the thermal and chemical conditions the adhesive may have to contend with during the lifespan of the product
